Number two on our list of top 10 sights in Paris is of course the largest museum in the world, the Louvre!
#2 The Louvre
The Louvre Museum is the biggest museum in the world, visited by millions every year. The Louvre has a long history. Before becoming a museum, the Louvre was a storage place — during the revolution, all major works of art were placed there to avoid destruction. Before that, it was a palace embellished by King Francis I. And before that, it was a stronghold built to protect the city of Paris.
Today you can get lost in never ending galleries filled with the most amazing artwork on the planet. You can wink at that mischievous Mona Lisa (careful, she’ll be watching you…). Or you can solemnly stand in front of the Coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte.
